Does anyone know where I can find a replacement 30/06 barrel for a large ring Mauser?
GPC is all out, and I need one to make up a deer rifle semi-soon.
The price has to be good, 2MOA is fine, $150 is not.

Thanks.......

Midway USA has a barrel in just about any caliber you want. Also lots of other stuff for your 98.

Try here – near the bottom of the page: www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/barrels.html  Incidentally, I’ve never dealt with these guys, just found this on their website.

You might also try www.sarcoinc.com or www.sportsmansguide.com.

No offence – presumably you know about headspacing a barrel.

What model is your rifle you are starting from? I recently finished one in 338-06 for larger game. I've got more $ in it than I could ever get out of it but, it is exactly what I wanted. Besides it was a lot of fun to build.

None taken, thanks for asking.
I have go and no goes in 30/06 from when I bought my first CMP M1 and was worried.

Columbian. The barrel is shot out and is running 8-12 inch 'groups'.

Your gages should work for 270, 30-06, 338-06, 8mm-06 maybe one or two others. Check on Midways web site for part numbers. There are a lot of cartgages based on the 06 and your gages should work on them. Just something to think about, you don't have to settle on one caliber.

FAC has .30-06 M98 Mauser barrels -I think around $85 for standard sporter barrel, and about $50 more for 1" fluted heavy barrel.

Century Arms has Model 98 Mauser barrels in .30-06 for $49.
