I need your help...I can get the L1A1 for $475.00 (thru my ffl who orders from SOG)

Or I can wait another month and get the Bushie.
I already have a V-match (20") that I love.

I know you will say get both (and I will eventually), but which one should I get first?

Can you tell us who makes the L1A1 first?

From what I've been told, Century makes 'em for SOG.

I have no idea what reciever it is, or for that matter if it's inch or metric.

I was kinda hoping someone on this board has had experience w/ SOG L1A1's.

Depends on what you want it for. Quality milsurp 308 is not guaranteed, so compare prices of new ammo as well. Century seems to be getting better at FAL builds; less bitching on FALfiles. Depending on the build headspace/bbl condition, the basic FAL will range from 2" to 4" 100 yd groups. I enjoyed building 2 FALs, but had great local help. Great power for the money.

The L1A1 will be lucky to get better than 4" groups @ 100 yards. The BM should get MOA @ 100 yards. Remember the old saying: only accurate rifles are interesting.

I think you should get the DCM first, since I have one for sale. :)  E. mail me if you're interested.  Great gun, only 300 rounds through it, with extras, and a reasonable price.  Can't beat it.

A friend of mine bought one of those $400 L1A1's and he is hell pressed to get a good consistent grouping with it.  Kill zone but not gnats' ass accuracy...

Hell, I wasn't expecting a tack driver from a surplus auto-loader.

I like the look of them....I'm always trying to get "shock value" out of my father in law when we shoot.

His jaw dropped to the ground when I pulled out my V-match last month! After shooting a few 30 rounders thru it, he was grinning from ear to ear.

I'd like to see that reaction with the L1A1. I scored a bunch of 10" and 12" round plates from the scarp bin at work (10" is 0.25" T-304 stainless and the 12" is 0.375" T-316 stainless) that I will be fabricating knock downs from.

If I can hit them at 50 yards offhand I'd be happy.
