Hmm..
One point the pro-armed-pilots articles seem to miss is this: The airlines have a lot of ex-military pilots flying for them... IIRC, at least 2 of the 9/11 planes had former USN/USAF pilots at the controls. These guys not only know how to handle small arms, but flew with guns in their cockpits in their prior job... So test 'em, pass out the Beretta 92s, and make the skies a little safer... After all, it worked for El Al (speaking of which, if anything is a case for armed flight crews, the LAX shooting incedent is one! The guy got a gun into the airport, but was dumb enough to attack the El Al ticket counter. He killed 2 people, and then the Israelis got him. So much for 'federal airport security'!)... |
