My first gun was a:
Remington 700 30-06 Bolt Action Rifle w/Bushnell scope. It was orignal used by a police department as a Sniper Rifle. Price: $460 |
Savage single shot 12 gauge. Break open.
My shoulder STILL hurtz. |
Colt Combat Commander in 9mm.
Given to me by my dad, it spent about 15 years loaded in the top drawer of his dresser. I still have it, it's about the only gun I have any sentimental attachment to. |

My first gun was a Winchester 7-30 waters, given to me by my Grandpa when I was 15, The first gun I ever bought was a Remington Viper .22, (the only rifle I could afford at the time), on my 18'th B-day, $100 with scope.
I still have them both. |
Glock Model 17, shortly followed by a Colt Comp. Match Target.
A Savage model 99F lever action in .358 Win.
It used to belong to my father who died when I was 3. He took his share of whitetail with it. My uncle and cousins used to tell me stories about them hunting together. I still have an 8-point rack that my father took. When I was 16 my uncle gave the rifle to me. I am now in my 40's and that rifle means more to me than any other one I own. OK, now I'm all teary eyed.... ______________________________ If you can keep your head, while all around you are losing theirs, you obviously don’t know what’s going on. (Or you have an AR-15) |
First real gun I purchased (dad gave me a gun before he would let me drive)was a blued Ruger MKII with target sights and bull barrell, NIB.
Still got it 20 years later and wouldnt part with it. Fine gun |

First pistol: Beretta 92FS
First rifle: Pre Ban Colt AR-15 R6520 Green Label no block |
First Pistol:
Sistema Colt Model 1927, 11.25MM (What the Argentines call a pre-WWII M1911A1, .45ACP) Bought it from JLD Enterprises for $300, as a '21st B-day present to myself'. First Rifle: AR-15, from assorted parts. I don't have all of it yet, but I just got the stripped lower (Oly Arms PCR-02, $129 + tax) from my local gun shop today. I'll get the rest at the next Milwaukee-area gun show. It's gonna be as close to an M16A2 as I can legally get with a post-ban semiauto lower. |
Mine was a Remington 540X, that I got for my 11th birthday 31 years ago. Still have it.
Just bought my 9 year old son his first last week for his b'day. A Rossi SS Matched pair, single shot with interchangeable 22 and .410 barrells. |
Winchester 9422 XTR
Christmas gift, 1978. At the time I think they were only @ $200. It's sitting in my lap right now, still in very nearly perfect condition. I don't expect it will leave my family during my lifetime. |
I inherited several hunting rifles and shotguns when my father passed away.
The first gun that I actually purchased was a Smith and Wesson model 459 9mm pistol. |
Smith and Wesson Sigma SW40V. Thought I was buying a Glock for $300. Some of us have to find out the hard way that you get what you pay for.
Colt Woodsman Match Target, paid $90 It still is the most accurate handgun I have ever fired. Got it the day I turned 21 (legal age in Michigan some 28 years ago). It would be another 15 years before I got a second firearm.
At 18 years old, I plug down 700 dollars for a FN FNC para with 16inch barrel.
Yeah right! You are just jealous of my 21. When did they ever sell FNC's esp. Para's for 700. You can't buy any FNC in this country no matter what. Please tell me when this was. In 1989? |
doggonit.....You can buy several makes of FNC's right now for $2200 or so.
My first gun was a Belgium Browning Light 20 that my dad bought me when I was 3, when he heard that Browning was going to be made in Japan. It still has never been assembled, I I probably never will. I'll give it to my son when he is about 30! |
I don't know when I got it, but it was my Great Great Aunt's 16Gauge, SxS "Ranger" (Stephens 311), and I took my first deer with it when I was 7-8 YO, A couple of years ago, I had it Black Chromed, receiver Hard Chromed, and a new stock made for it. I wanted to keep using it, and it checked out , so I figured what the heck, it's a family thing, so spend some $$$
Winchester Model 69A .22LR. It was given to me by my dad when I was 6 or 7. I'll never let it go!

My Grandpa gave me two guns when I turned 10 years old.

Savage 20 ga. bolt action shotgun. Had a clip that held three plus the one in the pipe but the clip never worked so it was always a single shot affair. Still my favorite rabbit gun.

Go Savage, Woo Hoo! Mine was in 308 win. I got it used when I was 14 as part of family tradition. It was the first gun that belonged only to me. |
First gun I owned was an old 8mm Mauser that kicked like a mule. Shot straight though. $80
Marlin Model 60 .22LR semiauto w/ 7/8" tube and 4X scope. My Dad bought a matched pair for us in 1976 and we tore up the gravel pits all summer long. They cost him $29 each, and I wouldn't trade mine for anything (except Pam Anderson).
