I have a standard A2 sight.  Can I get a scope on that, or do I need an A3?

see that hole in your carry handle? you can get alittle rail system put on thru that hole (just a screw) and you can mount a scope/acog/aimpoint or whatever on that rail

The problem is that your scope is going to be 4'' over the bore axis.

You're better off with a flattop.

<smartass mode on>Using the military nomenclature, an A3 would still have a carry handle, you would need an A4<smartass mode off>

One of my R6551s has a Colt delta scope mounted on an ARMS #2.  Yes, it sits pretty high up but it's dead on at 100 yards and well within an 8" circle out to 300 yards, with Q3131A.

I have a flattop also but there's no reason not to use the A2 handle mount.

I've got an A.R.M.S. #2 on my carry-handle.  Nice mount, doesn't lose its zero when you take it on and off.

Get a scope that was made for the carryhandle so you don't have the high line-of-sight over bore issues.

Recommended Scopes:
Compact ACOG (2x or 3x) with Triangular Reticle (get the version built for the AR-15 Carrydhanldle).

Colt Scope (not the cheap Leapers copy, but the real deal).

What ever you do, do not buy any other mount but A.R.M.S.

I have three mounts setting at home now that are not and all three suck!! to think that all three combined could have bought me another A.R.M.S.
