Are there any online sources with a good description and or pics of removing the Delta ring. Really would like to see a good diagram.

You have to remove the barrel in order to perform this operation.

But once you do it,  all you have to do is remove the retaining ring holding the delta ring/compression-spring on the barrel and it all comes off.
