Gotta say, I knew they were heavy, but am surprised at just how heavy they are. They are absolutely not ergonomic in the least, horrible to take apart for a full cleaning and the bipod has got to be the worst design ever invented. But despite all that, it's such a cool rifle. Been wanting to get one forever.
Now, I need to find a reasonably priced semi-auto Thompson M1A1 SBR. |

Love it!
Shot one in full auto, very nice one of my faves What do they cost these days? |

Quoted: I got mine about 12 years ago. 3 year wait to get it. I found one of the "Colt" polished blue BAR's a couple or so years ago on gunbroker. Fired a real one in Vegas. Pretty sure it was set at the high cyclic rate as it was completely uncontrollable. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/54333/BBDF0845-2430-4F99-940D-45479B6DBD67-1372671.jpg View Quote I have what's on the left in your pic and considered what is on the right - also from OOW, but I am awash in 5.56 belt-feds and decided that I didn't need to start with 7.62 as well. |

OOW licensed the Colt name, that’s about as far as Colt has any involvement with it. Yes, the 240 is an OOW as well.

Quoted: The "Colt" BAR's were built by OOW on a variance of Colts FFL and sold through Colt distributors. Just like the Bulldog Gatling guns and the 1903's. View Quote Didn’t realize Colt actually sold them. Beautiful gun though. Leather covered case and nice accessories. |

Quoted: Nice! Mine is still at the dealer due to Washington's "semi-automatic assault weapon" law. 10 business day mandatory wait and a proof of having taken a safety class! Everyone here feels MUCH safer. I, too, was shocked at how heavy it is, even without the bipod or carry handle installed. https://www.teddydog.org/guns/BAR_boxed.jpg When did you order yours? I bought at the very end of November when they listed they had a batch due to ship by the end of December. Mine arrived at the dealer on 1/3/22. Rob View Quote I think OOW makes them in batches, and usually they space them out a lot longer - maybe they are getting more orders recently. I see that if you order now, you can expect it to ship in Feb; not bad. |

Beautiful gun
I got to fire a repro last year. Smooth as silk but ergos of a brick |

Beautiful BAR's , Thanks to all for sharing.
I have always felt there is a certain sense of "magic" to these brutes. Wood and steel , just seems right... add a 30'06 to the mix, and it is a Classic. The M1A was my dream rifle. Ended up with a OEM M21, still a favorite. |

Very nice, looks like a piece of history.
I never did see much use for the BAR in combat. Very heavy, lots of recoil in full auto, not really a machine gun as not belt fed, slow mag changes so can't own the battlefield like a real MG. The best thing about it was the magazine, which would have been great to have on the Garand. It was designed for WWI trench clearing, and was out of date by WWII. But beautiful looking and a fine addition to a collection. |

Thrown away as soon as they could. |

That gun just ran hard all day and not once did it skip a beat. It also had a very distinctive sound. I have thought that it was used as it was very reliable and with the mags could keep up a steady rate of fire. Its an incredible rifle and I want one. |

Nice OP, talking about the weight. They make a FAL feel like a CAR15

Just change mags, push the gun back into place from where the smooth recoil pushed you/it, and do it again. So accurate and such soft recoil! |

I ran across one of these in a gunshop a week or so ago. Its a cool thing they are putting out along with the M240S. I think I would want the Pistol grip version though.

And an ammo fort full of '06 |

What I really want to do is turn my A1918 into a R75 or M1918A1 clone. Or, just have the parts to change back and forth from the A1918 / M1918 to one of the PG equipped M1918A2 Modified test guns. |
