I'm just wondering because I live in CA and it's a big no-no to own one for personal use and/or possession.
I thought I heard once that some states do allow citizens to own a silencer for guns but I don't know if that's rumor or fact.
If so, what are the restrictions???? If you know, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Florida is also a Class III friendly state. If I could scrape together the cash, I'd buy a suppressed Ruger 10-22 just to have that bull-barrel look.
Yes, it takes ATF paperwork and hoop jumping, but as it's said, only the PRK (people's republik of Kalifornia) and similar police states downright outlaw such taxed equipment.
They're OK in CT and 34 other states, as far as I know there are no restrictions once legally obtained.

A little off topic, but where did you find a folding stock for the Marlin? Choate has the black plastic stocks, but I didn't see a folder.

You can own a silencer in Washington State but you can't install it on a firearm or use it. Lame-assed law.

Suppressors have a very real utility in preserving the hearing of the shooter. The better ones do not take wipes and are more technologically advanced than the traditional "silencers" you read about in old detective novels.
They're also good for pest control in rural areas.
When you actually USE a firearm for utility purposes, it helps to have a suppressor because you usually don't have time to put on earmuffs or other hearing protection. And hearing damage is cumulative. I should know. I have partial hearing damage due to repeated exposure to gunfire.
I'm so glad I live in Florida.

Aside from the various state restrictions, there's one that applies to all states... you can't put a silencer on a post-ban AW; even if the state allows posession of both.

Ok, here is another question...can non-res.of a state that sells silencer's buy one out of his home state even if his home state allows sell/possession of silencers?

Well since I live in such a NFA friendly state(NOT)(I guess I should be happy we can still have Hi-Caps). I just take a trip right over the boarder in to PA and rent F/A and suppessed weapons. The only problem is getting me to leave the place and the huge ass smile on my face.

Yep here in OK you can buy a threaded barrel and silencer for your Beretta or pt-92 for around 800.00, then because of the 1922 or so act will cost you another 250.00 Fed Tax!
Then you are good to go,got the quietest nine on the block!
Course a twenty two rifle with a CB bullet is just as quiet, and WWWHHAYY cheaper!
