A gentleman was kind enough to let me borrow a Colt factory anodized "FDE" upper to generate a Cerakote formula that mimics Type II colored anodizing. There is some post coating work necessary to mimic the "reflectivity" aspect that anodizing has. Overall, the illusion is pretty effective. Below are some comparison photos in different light to show the effect. He was looking for a color in between the bright Colt upper, and the darker Colt receiver extension.

I'm continuing to develop this color and will post updates.

Yeah secret squirrel sauce for now; it's putting food on the table.

Understandable.

Really great work though, any shots of the completed rifle?

The upper was a client's piece, but I plan on doing a Noveske 13.7 SBR in this color (with the Mk7 rail and ACOG you see). When it's done, I'll certainly post.

And thank you for the kind words!

It's literally hours of tweaking ratio percentages by 1% at a time to get these tones... but when you get it it's awesome.

This revision lightens the color a bit to be a closer match to factory Colt FDE upper receivers.

Latest revision has a nice gold color in direct light, and a reddish/brown in subdued light.
