so this would be good for really really old shotgun SBSs? What was made before 1913 that was NFA-o-riffic?

I don't think it changes anything regarding Title II firearms

They need to make it 1934 so we can "fix" all those Maxim silencers and such.

I have not read it but I doubt it exempts them from NFA laws. Current antiques are not exempt unless given a variance by the ATF. Saw off an 1898 shotgun barrel below 18" without a stamp=PMITAFP.

Theoretically this would include the M1895 and certain early Maxim Machine guns right?

No. There are plenty of pre 1899 Maxims and other machineguns in existence today that are regulated as machineguns under the NFA.

so I take it the OP has incorrectly labeled the thread? Sounds like they won't be exempt from anything relevant. Yeah, I guess with a curio license you could get a not-quite-as-old POS via mail order...but really, what does this have to do with NFA?

No it wouldn't affect C&R holders at all.  It would allow people without a c&r license to buy things made before 1913 without any paper work through the mail.  The same way muzzleloaders, and pre 1898 rifles are currently regulated.

not very exciting...but, to each their own. What they need to do is just move that date up to 2013. Innocent typo?

I didn't read the bill but I recall an article that it was just to make them C&R; not exempt from title II.

As stated earlier, an antique firearm designation removes any kind of background check requirement. C&R firearms are well beyond 1913 already.

This bill would exempt firearms made in or before 1913 from the NFA and GCA.

Nothing more or less.

Nothing to do with 'curio and relics'

Exempting guns from the NFA of 1968 has everything to do with Title II firearms
