Had a friend give me a T/C Renegade that has been used hard and put away wet.
The stock is cracked in two places and the bore looks like a sewer pipe.

I'm thinking it imight be interesting to salvage the useable parts and built up a "Canoe gun," that is a short barreled rifle in 50 or 54.

Does anyone have a handle on how short of a barrel you can use and still have efficient burn of a given load?

You could have the barrel bored out to a larger caliber, either smoothbore or rifled.

TC Renegade is 1" flats.  Have it bored and rifled to .58. 1:60 to 1:72" twist.

You could cut it as short as you want to but I wouldn't do any less than 24" or so.

NFA is n/a to muzzle loaders.  Want 12", no problem.

14", bored out to .58"/.60", and have the muzzle funneled to use as a blunderbuss

28 to 30" for minimum with a round ball.

For minie balls, you can go down to 24".
