Apologies if this has already been asked but I can't find an answer. Now, I know I'm not supposed to sign the original. But what about the other lines on the original? Do I print my name? Title/Position? What about date? Is date supposed to be the date it was received from the ATF or the date of the signature (which would be constantly changing)?

I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Got my C&R in short order (after correction one omission [I neglected to put the county in which the CLEO is])
Now my question, what can I do with it? I got a big book from the ATF. I presume I can buy any item listed in the book and have it sent directly to me? What about online vendor discounts through sites like Brownell's? I have to admit, I primarily got the C&L because it is currently the only way to legally posses a SBR here in Illinois. But now that I have the license, I am looking for more ways to use it. Thanks!

Forgive me if this has already been talked about but I'm getting worried. I moved a couple months ago and finally got around to sending in my Change of Address form towards the end of November. They say allow 30 days for the paperwork to go through before using for C&R.
Does the ATF send you a new license? It's starting to go on 6 weeks and I'm wondering if I should expect something in the mail or not. |
|
|
I almost forgot about this thread until I got my renewal paperwork in the mail. I just mailed it off.
Great source of information Thanks |

Sent my renewal on 6 Jan 14
Received new license 27 Jan 14 Noticed that the form has changed from Form 8A (7-97) to Form 8A (10-11) CD |

Do I have to send my acquisition and disposition books back to BATFE for I'm going to let my license expire? A little box on the renewal from says that if I don't renew I need to send them back but I thought that was only for someone with a real FFL. Any thoughts?

So i sent in my C&R on January 31st, my CC was charged February 5th.
The only problem is i did not fill out/send the certificate of compliance with my packet. Will there be any delay or repercussions? Thanks in advance! |
|

My understanding, you only have to turn in if a business FFL Type 01. C&R records are yours to do what you want ie: Keep or destroy.

Filling mine out tomorrow. I saw this and was wondering if anyone else didn't fill out the certificate of citizenship if you were the only person listed.
2 Download the [ATF F 5330.20 — Certification of Compliance] form. In addition to 5310.16, applications must be accompanied by a signed Certification of Compliance (ATF F 5330.20) for each additional Responsible Person (RP) on the license, if applicable. If you're the only person on the license then you don't need to submit the 5330.20 form. This one page electronic form is used to determine the citizenship of all the parties on the license and their eligibility to file the Form 7CR above. |

anyone else have an issue not getting renewal info in the mail?/ mine expired last may and if i had received
renewal paperwork I would have renewed it. but did not and so it is now expired. I decided no harm no foul as I can start a new bound book. still would have been nice to get the renewal like i did the 3 times previous when it expired |

Also at the bottom of the page, do we sign that ourselves, and, if so, what do we put for title? |

Just an FYI for everyone.
I sent my application for new C&R on about Feb 6th. My card was charged on Feb 11. Based on everyone else getting theirs back so quickly, I decided to call and check on the status. I was told they "received it" on Feb 26th (11 business days after my card was charged) and that it would take between 60-90 days for it to process!! WTF.. Is this the normal wait time now? |

Sounds like my situation. They charged my card on February 8th. When I called they said they started processing the application on February 25th and were delayed because of the "severe weather" in Atlanta.
|
|
|
Figured it out, hopefully that crazy wait time was just them covering their butts. I don't see how two or three snow days could push them back more than 3 or 4 days
Mailed: March 7 Arrived: March 10 CC Charged: March 13 Received License: March 26 Guess who is about to watch their bank account start leaking like a sieve now? This guy! |
|
|
Somehow I didn't get a renewal packet and I just realized my C&R expired almost 2 years ago...time flies I guess.
Will I be able to renew or do I have to submit a new application and start the process all over? |
|
|
Just got my license in the mail today!
Mailed 2/18 Charged 2/24 License received 3/21 Now time to figure out how to christen the C&R collection!

View Quote Well, I got my C&R yesterday! That 60-90 days was obviously a severe overestimate! It took more like 30 days from their "received" date, but more like 45 days total from when I sent the paperwork in. I'm pleased, now what to buy...... |

I didn't read through the whole thread, but how much does it cost today?
Another thing: Are there any laws about keeping your C&Rs stored in a safe or anything? I'm just wundering what limitations the license puts on me. For example: If a gun is on my book can I still let a relative keep it at their house? How long is it good for and when it expires do I need to turn over any paperwork to ATF? |
|
|
$30
No to the safe or locked up Not sure about off site storage I have had them shipped to different address than on my C&R due to delivery availability Have to keep bound book of rifle purchases 3 years Yes turn over book if ATF audits you. |

Mailed application 5/29.
Received license 6/14. I was expecting 6 weeks, not 2. |

Hey everybody,
First time posting. Just been lurking In the shadows doing research. But I have a couple questions. Maybe I over looked the answers. So sorry if I did. If I was the one filling out the application and I wanted to add my father to the licence would he send in his 5330.20 in the same package as mine? This has to do with modifying any C&R weapons I buy under the licence. Using this as a example, would I be able to add a scope to a mosin nagant or a mauser?. Would that take it out of C&R status? Thanks |
