What model 52 is it?  The earlier A's had an issue with the receiver developing a crack behind the bolt lug.

I've requested more pictures. I'll see if I can find out what model it is.

Looks like the original shipping crate? That price is a no brainer buy buy buy

My impression is that 52s typically sell for far more than that, rimfirecentral has a 52 sub-forum you might check out.

My father and I have been collecting model 52's for a long time... We even have Barry Goldwater's personal 52C Heavy barrel (had to go 50/50 on that one)... last count was just over 15 of them... for what i can see, that is an incredible price, as that model in even average condition goes for around $700. A model B/C in the condition that it looks like in the pic (around 90%, judging from the patina on the wrist) should go for around $1000. add another 3 to 500 for the original shipping crate. As was already stated, these were not rated for high velocity ammo and many developed cracks at the thin rear locking lug from use of HV ammo. If the lug is cracked... drop 50% value... they still fire fine, but value is ruined.

Where do I send the money?

If you don't buy that most rikki-tik, especially at that price, you will forevermore be kicking yourself in the ass.

I mean that in the kindest, most  lighthearted way.

That is a pre A model slow lock. No suffix in the serial number, longer firing pin drop. Does look to be in good condition on the outside. The receivers are prone to cracking at rear of the locking lug recess. I have a pre A model with fast lock that was not cracked when I purchased it in the 70's, about a year ago I noticed that a crack had developed. I don't have an idea of the value, but I don't think you would get hurt at that price. It appears to have the Lyman 48 receiver sight which is a good sight. Great shooters.
