I have the rubber OM stock on my bull-barrelled 10/22 and I love it. (FWIW, I also have a rubber OM stock set on one of my 870s, and it's pretty nifty too!
 )

does this stock have the same texture as the hogue handgun grips?

Yep, it has the "pebble grain" molding and is soft/compressable. Very comfortable IMO. |

Unless you want to go completely nuts and spend for a macmillan (sp?) the houge is the way to go.I have one on my factory profile (skinny) barrel 10/22 and love it. I want to get another for my 10/22T (fat barrel)

I just picked up Hogue OM 10/22 stock this week myself. I LOVE it. I can't really imagine why you would want anything else. everything on it is perfect.
