Hi Guys,
I am building up a new plate carrier and I wanted your guys opinions. I am about to go out and purchase some pouches for my setup. In the pics I have two black triple mag pouches on my carrier but I decided not to go with black pouches and sell these. Right now the carrier has level IIIA soft amror attached to it . I have it setup so I can slip the whole unit over my head and it has two medium sapi plates.
My total cost so far for this project is:
1. Wasatch,shoulder pads,upgraded shoulder strap. $165
2. level IIIA soft armor.                                       $135
3. level III stand alone sapi plates.                        $259
                                                                  =     $559
I am glad I went this route. I almost purchased one of those $60 dollar carriers to save money. I think I have built something up that will be around for years to come.

This is what I will be adding to the setup.
1. two tripple mag pouches.
2. one small/medium utility pouch on the chest.
3. water bladder carrier on the rear. to either hold the bladder or supplies
.

THE BIG ? IS:
what color should these pouches be.
woodland camo, OD green, brown, woddland digital...????[/red
I want to break up the color a bit.

What do you all think???

How 'bout Ranger/Forest Green?

One thing I noticed about the 'Satch is, watch how big a pouch you put on the bib...
It can get real tricky real fast to access mags in a hurry!

I agree,
I may end up not puting a utility pouch on there. If I do it will have to be the small one I think. With all the pouches around the belly area it may not be needed to have anything on the bib.
Thanks for your comments. Its very much appreciated.

No Prob!

I run a TT PackRat on the waist, looks like you have room for something of that size?
Most people seem to use not much more than an admin. pouch on the bib because
of the aforementioned reasons...

Let us know what you come up with!

I would go with a mix of OD and Coyote.

why soft armor with stand alone plates?
Doesnt that just add weight?
SAPI plates are stand alone?
I thought they were ICW plates.

I'm thinking of the same set up but want a subload and drop leg holster
Can you add a subload to that set up?
What belt would you use?

Stand-Alone plates are not always what they are cracked up to be.  You should always wear soft armor with plates no matter what level they are if you want full protection.

By the way, that's pretty cool how you've got the armor vest hooked up to the satch.

Oops.

Forgot to suggest:  Try adding some different colored shoulder straps, pads, and ammo pouch tabs if you want to break up the color (while keeping it semi-streamlined).  the satch gets really bulky in the fron really fast if you aren't careful.

Well I'm trying to do something similar.  I stole your idea about attaching the soft armor to the carrier with the shoulder pads.  Worked well.  I'm thinking about attaching some velcro to the carrier as well as to the vest so that the two don't shift at all.

What kind of vest is that?

Thanks for the idea.
