Hey All

I recently purchased a Remington 11-87 Police 12ga shotgun with the factory extended magazine. Since the gun came with a Remington synthetic stock & forearm, and I'm an old-school steel & walnut guy, I purchased a 11-87 stock set that I was told was off a 11-87 12ga.

After refinishing the stock set & applying several coats of BLO, I removed the handguard & attempted to install the walnut handguard.

NO DICE! The handguard would not fit over the gas cylinder collar. When I removed the gas cyl collar, the handguard would not fit over the barrel seal activator.

Did the SOB sell be a 20ga stock set?

Have you compared your newly purchased forearm vs your old forearm?

That's a quick way to see where you're at and where I would start

My brother ran into the similar when he bought his 11-87 years ago. It came with wood and a smooth barrel.

He bought a rifled slug barrel for deer hunting and the wood forearm wouldn't fit. He had to get a poly stock set and the poly forearm did work with that barrel.

I forget all the specifics of why or what went wrong, it was over 15 years ago, but he has to use the poly forearm with the rifled barrel and the wood forearm with the smooth barrel.
