I was in on a raid a few years back where an officer [putting on nomex for the cop-bashers] shot a 90lb PitBull at about 3 feet away with a powdered copper breaching slug. The slug hit upper center chest (the dog was almost on top of him), penetrated about an inch, then just about detonated into about 400 pieces. Dog went DRT, never moved a muscle after it hit the ground. I saw the X-ray later, and the dog's chest cavity looked like a clear night's sky. Optimal anti-personnel round? No. Still deadly? Hell yes.
