It's like a Walther and Beretta APX had an affair and made an uglier bastard child.
 Kinda strange that they're pushing the 509 series off their global mil sales already, wonder if the "HiPer" is cheaper and/or better profit margins than the 509? |

Seems to be a Herstal designed gun, not FN America designed. Who knows what audience they built it around….

I am guessing that will not be for sale in the US. It almost looks like FN Herstal of Belgium came up with a budget 9mm for European sales.
FN Seems to be following S&W's business models lately. The 509 will be the equivalent to the M&P for LE and commercial sales. The HIPer and the SD9VE will be the "budget" offerings with much of it's sales geared towards the budget minded, European market. |

The magazine release seems like it could work well. They put a close frame to slide fit to minimize ingress of dirt. Don't know about the slide release, looks like you could ride it pretty easily. |

It looks like a hodge podge of pieces parts. I find the 509 a great pistol design with form and function. This looks like something Taurus would spit out.
