Is there any reason I can't just omit the mag disconnect spring and grind off the legs leaving a little washer?

Well, I ordered the Sam Lam bushing today. Along with an LCI filler plate.

all you need are a few washers.

My preferred technique is to replace the MK III hammer with a VQ MK II hammer and replace the sear with a VQ MK II/III sear, and replace the hammer bushing with a tight MK II bushing. This reverts the configuration to the MK II trigger configuration with a very nice trigger.

I used the Sam Lam bushing to delete my mag disconnect. It was fairly straight forward but somewhat of a pain getting everything lined back up for reassembly.

I don't expect the parts to arrive for a while yet, so rather than leave the gun all disassembled on my work bench, I reassembled it. The drop free magazinesare already a huge improvement! They go in easier too!
