according to the pic, ambi safety isn't a problem. If the grips don't have the ambi cutout, just carefully trim to fit. |

It looks like the right side is where the laser's guts are. Hrm. I'll have to wait and see what these things look like first.
I thought I read something here about trimming down the safety switch. I'll have to search some more. |

You're stock ambi safety will not work with the Crimson Trace grips. Unless you're willing to modify the right side safety (the lever is too long) you'll have to replace it with a single sided safety of one of these
 ETA: It's my understanding that CTC makes a replacement right side safety for the Springfield's that is compatible with their grips, however I could not find it on the websight. |

Security & Safety Supply * If pistol has ambidextrous safety, right-hand lever must be shortened to clear laser. Pre-shortened Wilson Combat safeties are available from CTC, but must be fitted by a gunsmith. These replacement safeties are currently not compatible with Kimber 1911 pistols, but we are working on a solution. |

So if I were to shorten the right side on my own....what would be the best way to go about it?
Take the pistol apart, lock the frame down and go at the safety with the dreaded dremel?  That may get ugly. Would probably be fun though.

Once you get the CT grips install them and measure the amount of the lever that needs to be shortened.
Remove the right side of the safety and shorten it, blend to suit and cold blue. I'd do the blending with hand files and emery myself. |

Well right now it is just a suspected gift. If I end up getting them or buying them I'll post up the work here.
I don't imagine it will be that hard. We'll see. |
