I have decided to get my first 1911. I want a railed frame, so the 2 pistols that come to mind are the SA MC Operator and the Kimber Warrior. Are there any advantages of one over the other? Do they both have to same kind of safeties and parts? I am pretty new to 1911's, and I am feeling kind of overwhelmed.

I just want someone to compare the 2 pistols to each other. I have shot several Kimbers but never a Springfield. I liked the Kimbers a lot, but have heard good things about the SA's. Any words of wisdom or pointers here?

By default, I say SA, with a caveat: I've never tried the MC Operator, but my understanding is that it's a Loaded with a rail. I have a Loaded, and a Loaded Operator, so if that is true, I'd go with the MC Op.

I'd say that they're pretty evenly matched, get which ever one you can find the best deal on.

I picked my Warrior up for $850.

Never shot a kimber, but I have shot an operator, and HOLY SMOKES was that nice & accurate. Made me feel inadequate...

Well, speaking of safeties...
My Kimber's safety lever broke on me first time out, but my Springfield's safety lever is still going strong.

If the posts to date don't convince you, then Springfield's customer service (first-rate quality, quick turn-around, and they reimburse the first $50 to ship your firearm to them) should convince you.

I picked up a MC operator for $850 new and it is awesome. It has a lot of features from the factory. Night sights, ambi safety, front cocking serr., ect. The only thing I didnt like were the grips and that was an easy fix. Frame to slide to barrel fit was all superb. And on top of all that this thing is very accurate and feeds all kinds of ammo. Kimber is a fine gun but this Springfield is excellent as well. In my search for a railed 1911 the thing that really sold me on the MC operator was the design of the light rail.
I think the Springfields rail is more attractive and the Kimbers is more bulky.
Here are a couple of pics, I like the way the end of the rail is cut at a 45 degree angle.

If you act quick... You could get a TRP Operator with a Full Length Rail. Will most likely be the last time they are made.

I had the TRP operator and traded it for a Warrior. I am much happier with the warrior.

Having something that will not be made and is not seen as much. Adds alittle wieght and keeps muzzle down a tad more. Faster follow up shots.

Holsters are easy to find a good custom one. I don't care for to many off the shelf holster anyway. For the price custom holsters made for your gun.... Is the only way to go. JMO

Reliablity, and customer service will always go to SA. Just my experience.

UMM Been to 4 Gun Shows, none. I saw 1 on GB. And haven't seen any in any of the Twin Cities Gun Shops. And with SA being kind enough to make one last run of them. I ordered mine. You were talking about the TRP Operator with a Full length Rail right. PC9105lp I think is the part number. Dealer cost of $1345.00.

+1 on the Warrior. I don't know where all the Kimber bashing comes from, but mine has been great! I've read just as many SA problem threads as Kimber problem threads. Both companies have QC issues from time to time.

Held em both and the Warrior really didn't do it for me. That and Springers lifetime warranty set it apart for me. +1 Operator

KIMBER!

My Kimber with a drop in ed brown barrel bushing managed a 1.3 inch group in a ransom rest at 50 yards with federal gold match 185's.

Plus, I like my American parts
