I would like to the slide OD and OD grips, so if anyone has it that way that would be great.

Just a project gun which started as a SA 1911 Mil-Spec, milled the slide to add Novak low-mount front and rear sights, contoured frame for high-ride beavertail grip safety, Commander-style hammer, extended thumb safety, flat mainspring housing without ILS parts, slide is Duracoated OD green, custom grips with 1911 silver dime (inspired by another recent photo from this 1911 board), skateboard tape on front strap (click on thumbnail for larger photo).

I was thinking about getting a taurus pt1911, dehorning it and doing the same thing.  For all you who have done it yourself, does the refinish affect the tolerance on the rails (slide or frame)?

I'm thinking about shooting it a lot first and learning how to do a good detail strip (this would be my first 1911). Then down the road, dehorning both the slide and frame.

Maybe do the frame in OD and slide in CB... or vice versa.

Need to save up for this project...
