Rem Rand, totally no brainer. MUCH better investment even if you never fire it. If you can find a nice original 1911A1 [usgi] buy it.  They will never go down in value if you take care of it.

I could pull around 3K for my 1945 Rem Rand right now.

I can't believe I have to say this. Get both.

Shoot the Sistema, preserve the Rand.

shoulda been clearer, this is for shootin'.  I put out a WTB for USGI style 1911's and got offered these two.

Remington Rand.

It's got the  FJA stamp(frank J Atwood)and the ordinance wheel is often poorly stamped right there behind the grips!  Look and see if the barrel has an HS above the barrel link!

Cause High Standard made the barrel!!!

Like posted it would bring anywhere from 900.00 to 3,000,00!!

So yes I would go for the Rand!!

How much does he want for the Sistema?

If posssible, get both.

Shoot the hell out of the sistema & reserve the Rem-Rand for special ocassions.........

If only one is possible for you....Get the Rem-Rand and enjoy!

also should I be jumping on a series 70 national match colt nib?  same guy (he's got a nice collection!) has a need for my AK's but not his 1911's apparently!

Yes some say that the 70 series is not collectable,I say why not?   And my Rand has only half the crossed cannons(ordinance mark)on it,and the gun dealer I showed it to said it' s the best he has seen!

I was going to sell it to a member here for 900.00  the dealer said I was WAY too low!!

Get the Rand, and the colt 70!   Hell buy the sestima and sell it to me!!!!!!!

Aproximately, how much is that Rand worth? I know where there is an identical pistol in 95% condition for sale.

Rand for a collectible, Sistema for a shooter.

Yeah, I read your $900-$3000 post, but that's a pretty fucking wide range.

I was assigned a Remington Rand for my first few years in the Army.  No brainer.  That was the best issued firearm I was ever assigned.

Cheers,

Another vote for the Rand. If you can't get both, get the Rand, and you can find another USGI style shooter later.

95% about $13-1700 IF ALL original.

100% $3000+ They pull that amount because there are not that many floating around in that condition. I looked for years and I have exactly ONE in that condition.

That is not what the books say but it IS what they are pulling down.
A 70% goes for around 7 to $900 anymore and it will STILL sell fast.

Even a typical USGI mixmaster in decent shape will pull that amount anymore.

The Sistema will never pull anywhere close to those amounts and won't ever go up in value. Thought the Sistemas were originally BLUED. Reparks were a refinish job. Most were reblued also, very few were truly original. Somethin fishy with that one. Do some more checking on that one.

Some quick points..

That Sistema isn't a Colt contract gun; it's an Argentine-made gun, using Colt's tooling, with local labor.  Dunno about unissued, either..I can see some buffing evidence; it almost looks as if it was refinished. Could be wrong on that, though But, yah. It's only inherent value is as a shooter, and a fantastic platform to start a build on. Prices on 'em are going up, too...

It also depends on what you're going to do with it. Are you going to shoot the wee out of it, send it to Yost or another qualified smith, get it worked up, etc? Or are you going to shoot the wee out of it, and keep it original? Or, are you going to just keep it in your collection?

For option A, get both, use the Sistema.

For option B, get both, use the Sistema.

For option C, get both, and use the Sistema.

But, if for some strange cosmic reason, you were limited to just one? Jump on the Rand.

Also, check to make sure it really is a RR frame.  I've seen quite a few hump-ups over the years that had things like Colt frames with RR slides, etc.  Actually saw someone try to pass off a Colt frame with a Singer slide, as a Singer...that one made me cringe. At least I got the slide, though
