I hate you.
J/K. That is a GREAT looking pistol. I am in fact, very jealous. Congratualtions! |
very nice! Congrats on the beautiful weapon.
Mind if I ask how much? |
Congratulations! You made the right choice. All the folks at Yost-Bonitz do top notch work and their turn-around time compared to most other smiths "in their league" is excellent. I have almost the exact grips on my 1* Elites. Their work is beautiful and functional. The beavertail to frame fit is superb as is all the other "cosmetics". Wait till you feel the trigger pull. Enjoy!!

South facing screws. Nice touch. You don't see that much outside the very high end shotgun market.
So that's your commercial colt I saw on LTW. How do you like the straight eights?
The price of 4 Kimbers or 7 Glock 17s. $2500 + a very clean Series 70 he'll build something off of. And I have no regrets. |
Haven't even seen this gun in person, but I've used straight eights on a Kimber and I like them a lot. Its a better setup than three dots across, at least for me. |
I AM a dedicated lad, but if I take five hours each way to go back, I'll never get my homework done. Lemme know how it shoots. If I had a three day weekend like the rest of you, I would definitely be standing in your shop drooling right now! |

DocGun,
Thank you for this mornings PM. And in 5 years I'll still be able to get my money out of this. Not so with a Kimber or Glock. ETA: Not that I will EVER sell this gun! My great-grand kids are gonna use this as their looter shooter. But its nice to know that something retains value. |
Hmmmmm, I'm wondering what they could do with a pre series 70 National Match
I believe I heard 12-18 months, but don't quote me on that. 1* are 3-4 months. This pistol was bought complete, before it went on sale to the general public. |

Congrats!!!-----------a real beauty--------------------------------!!!
ps, just got back from my local shop and put a nice little pony in layaway "Defender" not 45mins ago! Congrats again, GTD |
I had to look at it again...................and yes I am jealous
I want one BTW what's wrong with Kimber?? My CDPII has been flawless |
There's nothing wrong with a Kimber. Trust me, these just feel better...
Comparing a Kimber to this thing... it's like comparing a DPMS to a Noveske. Most people wouldn't know the difference. But I do.
Thank you much for the compliment. And thank the builder for the pics. He's multi-talented. |
Very nice pistol, Congrats on the new acquisition. Man, I want one now.
^_^_^ |
I, too, hate you.
But I love you sense of great taste!!!! What a work of ART!!!! Enjoy! |
Darn!!! Beat me to it!!! BTW, Enjoy!!! |

Ted claims to have influenced Steve in the process, but I believe Steve did all the metal work. Although I think Ted did the bluing. Either way, it turned out great. The pistol as bought complete and finished. It would have gone up for sale, but I bought it a day ahead of time. |

You've inspired me to find out how much of the work Ted did... I think it's in the LTW thread. I'll check later.
Can't say how it shoots, as I have yet to see the gun. I'm on the other side of the state. AJohnston has temporary custody and was going to try and give it a go tonight. We're expecting one ragged hole |
Ted Yost:
"This gun is a result of a collaboration between Steve and myself. Steve did all the work, and my part was to get him to slow down, take his time and make something he'd be really proud of, and so would I. My part was the hardest, because Stevie hates to drag out projects to a rate that normal people build guns at." |
Not sure I would even shoot it. Great find, C_J !! |
I must be seeing something different ... how does that look anything like this? |
I hate that stupid "melted" look. |
And here are the results… As you can see this gun can shoot very well. I ran 140 rounds through the gun, 100 WWB 230gr FMJ and 40 Speer Gold Dot 230gr JHP. 10rd @ 15yd WWB 230gr FMJ 5rd @ 15yd Speer Gold Dot 230gr JHP As I’ve seen before the Speer Got Dots tended to print a bit high but still gave the best group of the night. I think the gun is capable of even more accuracy but I just wasn’t going to get it out of the piece during this session. The 25lpi checkering is just right and not abrasive to my hands at all... but I am a bit used to checkering. With 230gr FMJ the gun prints true to the top of the front sight and just a hair to the right. I suspect a small nudge on the rear sight is all this gun needs and then it’ll shoot straight as a laser gun. |
