Was considering one and I didn't know if they were that much better/different than a standard Range Officer, I thought I read about a different trigger, hammer and finish as well as the grips, wasn't sure if that justified the extra $$, thought about getting a target in 9MM and giving my standard RO in 9MM to my Son.

I handled a few RO Elites and regular RO's side by side and of the examples I tried, the Elite had a better trigger and frame/slide fit.  That may be important if you're looking for a more accurate gun.  Everything else seemed to be superficial including the finish.  For the price difference it may just be worth it to you.

Thanks for the info, just looking for another 1911 and the elite came to mind.

I have the Elite Operator in 9mm.  It is a good gun for the money. It has a better finish and better trigger than standard range officers.

I like the Elites, I just hate the ambi safety they use on that model.
