So I'm considering getting a 1911, and while it probably won't be my everyday carry, it would still be nice to have some decent mags just in case, and only 8 rounds (9 if you count the chamber) has always made me nervous, but is there such thing as a 1911 extended magazine? Yes, I realize it will stick out of the grip.

If I could get 13 rounders I would feel really good.

Chip McCormick and Tripp make 10 round extended magazines. Para-Ordnance, Rock Island, and a few others make double stack 1911s.

If you feel you need 13 rounds of 45 ACP I suggest you look at something other than a 1911.

I have great luck with the Wilson 10's.

One thing you might not have taken into account OP is how long a 13 round magazine would be. The tens already stick out quite a bit, anything longer would be pretty unwieldy.

I'm going to cast a vote for you to look at one of the high capacity 1911 options myself. Proud owner of a Number BP TenII here and it has worked flawlessly since day 1. 13 + 1 rounds of .45 goodness. - Nw-

I ran my John Harrison custom TRP a few times in Limited 10, using Wilson and CMC 10-rounders. I currently run some of the CMC's in some of the tactics classes I teach. No issues with either brand, but I wouldn't recommend them for EDC as they protrude from the bottom of the frame at least 2". I do know some folks that run an 8-rounder in the gun and 2 10-rounders on their belt for reloads. Since the reload mags run up the length of the body in traditional methods of carry, the added length isn't an issue to conceal.

If capacity important to you, a single-stack 1911 ain't your thing. Get a double-stack 1911, or go with an entirely different platform.

Look at the double-stack 1911s from Para. They also have an incredible double-action (LDA). Its ridiculous to consider carrying a full-sized 1911 with an extended mag sticking out of it.

Anything beyond 10rd is pure crap.

carry a 8 reload to a 10.

Well, since you haven't spent the money on a 1911 yet, there's no reason to go at it half-assed.

I have an 11 round mag that works great don't know who makes it though I think its a Mec-Gar.
