I prefer a 1911 and have carried mine pretty much everywhere. That said it’s much more of a pain in the ass than a 365. Plus with that I get a dot and higher capacity.

Still a 1911 guy but becoming much less of a purist

I went back to carrying glocks, I sold several guns the last month and went back exclusively to double stack glocks. I kept my colt 9mm 1911, sold my kimber, shield and a few random. The kimber carried nice with lw frame. The 1911 in general carries nice because its so thin. My kimber jammed about 4-5x every 100 rounds. Glocks just work. Been toting my 26 with a 12 round mag and 19 round 19x mag for back up.

Dude, it's 2021 ...

Low capacity boat-anchors aren't doing very well these days, .... 'cept maybe as Safe Queens and Collector pieces.

When I do carry(which isn't much anymore because I rarely go anywhere outside of work)it was always a striker fired pistol. I'm switching to a commander length 1911 because I'm more accurate with it and it feels more classy.

Hi, I carry Springfield lightweight in 9mm and Colt Government in 45 when the weather permits.  When it is too hot I carry a Springfield XDS in 9mm in a IWB Concealment Express holster.  The 1911's are carried in a Galco OWB or my really old Roy's Leather pancake holster from 1978 when I was a Detective at my police department in Colorado.

As of this reply ....

6 (3.77%) poll respondents own handguns but don't carry them.

57 (35.85%) poll respondents carry a 1911 of some size.

61 (38.36%) poll respondents carry a Glock.

3 (1.89%) weirdos (just kidding ... well, not entirely) still cling to their revolvers.

32 (20.13%) poll respondents carry something I didn't list.

... and I have a 5" 1911 in my holster as I type.

ETA

1 guy has no style and thinks a 1911 is an outdated boat anchor.

I understand that the 38-39oz might be too much for a modern man who eats McDonald's daily and only gets "exercise" when he waddles into the Quicky Mart to buy a case of Busch Light. However, we are talking about 2.5 pounds here.

Remember, the average American soldier during World War II was 5'-8" tall and weighed 144 pounds.  He carried a 9.5 pound M1 rifle which by today's standards is about 1 pound more than some people on this site want to carry IN TOTAL (rifle, optic, ammo).  By contrast, the average 20 year old American male is now 5'-9" and weighs 198 pounds.

I believe the "1911 too heavy" is endemic of a different issue.

I've carried a 1911 for a couple years (Kimber custom II and Springfield LW operator).  Moved to a warmer climate and went to subcompacts (glock 19 then revolvers).  However, with micropistols out like P365 and P365xl thats what i carry daily now.   changed equipment with the times

Raise my hand on this one...

Cut my teeth on 1911's, love them.  JMB should be 5th face on Rushmore.

But, even with an UltraCarry 2, found I would leave it at home too often.

Tried to like Glock, couldn't bring myself to it.  Prefer M&P ergos, with Apex trigger.  Shield was next in sequence, wanted better round count, so.....

Now carry 365XL in a G-Code Phenom Stealth holster.

Ppq subcompact.

Trigger is almost as good as a 1911, lightweight and small. My Pro is a favorite of mine but I haven’t carried it in over a year.

I've been carrying a G19 daily for years and years, but prefer a 1911.

I prefer 2011's.  Big, heavy, great trigger.  No way in hell I'm carrying one though.
