I am on cloud 9.  I just got a brand spankin new Desert Eagle .50 TCN.  Just wondering if anybody else has one with this type of finish and how they like it?  Also, any suggestions on the best type of ammo for the best price?  Peace out fellow gun lovers.

Whats the recoil on one of those?  I've read a report from Desert Eagle that it is a mild kick and even less than a 44 mag or 357.

I wish I had one.  When I fired the .50 it felt about like the recoil of a .44 in a wheelgun.

I haven't shot my gun yet, but is the recoil of this finish less than the .50 of any other finish?  When I called MR they told me that the TCN finish is bonded better to the gun and the action is smoother.  By the way, anybody have comments on what type of ammo is reliable and cheap for the .50 AE?

If there are any differences in recoil for guns with different finishes, they're imperceptible.  And the recoil on the .50 Desert Eagle is stout but manageable.  It's a very heavy gun, afterall.

There aren't a whole lot of choices for commercially loaded ammo.  CCI/Speer MRI (manufactured by CCI) and Samson in a couple different bullet weights (all HPs) are about all I've seen, and all seem to perform equally well.  I've never seen the IMI or Samson product advertised for less that the Speer Gold Dots.

Cheaper than Dirt has .325 grain Gold Dots for $16.72 per box.  Wholesale Hunter advertises them for $16 per box, but whenever I've tried to order from them they've been back-ordered.

For comparison, Samson and MRI are available directly from Magnum Research at $24 per box.

Thanks for the ammo info.  I'll probably go to Cheaperthandirt.com and get my ammo there.  Just wondering, I have mostly seen HP's for the .50 caliber, but I never have seen FMJ's.  Do they just not widely produce FMJ's because once that bullet starts in motion it won't freakin stop?

Forgot to mention AMMOMAN  350 grain Speer Lawman soft points are $16 per box delivered, so long as you buy the minimum of 5 boxes.  If you buy 10, it works out to $14 per box.

Ammoman is great to deal with and an AR15.com industry partner.

The rounds are about $1 a pop. My brother has one so we reload for it using Hodgdon H110 and Speer bullets. Those work fine.

The recoil is very heavy if you ask me. Shoot a couple boxes of ammo and you're done for the day.

I bought mine with .44 REM Magnum and .50 AE Barrels and Mags.

Shooting .44 REM Mag out of it due to its weight and Gas Operation is Sweet!  Since I had a 6 inch Barrel my .44 load had to have energy levels above 900 ftlbs or ~1300 Fps.  Most cheap 50 rnd Commercial was not Hot enough.

I reload .44 Rem Mag with 2400 and 17g does it. Yeah, the power is dirty but it works.

.44 REM MAg, you can shoot all day long.

.50 AE is definate change in Menu, it is load and fire breathing Dragon out of 6 inch.  Tight Grip is need or else you will get a IMI head Stamp on your fore-head.

Reloading here helps a lot as cases hardly get worn out.  I have reload mine at least 4 times and still look good.

Speer Commercial Loads work good and can be had on SAle for $14 a box.

I shoot mine now once in a while as I shoot mostly 9mm .40 and .45.

If money saving is an Option, I would suggest getting a REvolver in .454 Casull in a ported version of Taurus.  It is cheaper gun to buy and any loading wil work since it is a revolver.

Well now you have to buy a pimped out 1970 El Dorado with furry pink seat covers, buy platform shoes and start calling people "Jive Turkeys"...

Repeat after me: Where my ho's at yo?

i want one of those bad boys .how does the power rate (.50 ae) compared to .44 mag and the .480 rugerand the power house .454 casull????

IIRC the 50 AE is similar in power to a 454.  I wouldn't mind having a 480 at all.  Little more punch than a 44 and a bigger hole to boot.  If you get much more powerful than that, it's simply too much for my skinny 150 pound butt!!
