Quoted: I haven't shot my gun yet, but is the recoil of this finish less than the .50 of any other finish? When I called MR they told me that the TCN finish is bonded better to the gun and the action is smoother. By the way, anybody have comments on what type of ammo is reliable and cheap for the .50 AE?

If there are any differences in recoil for guns with different finishes, they're imperceptible. And the recoil on the .50 Desert Eagle is stout but manageable. It's a very heavy gun, afterall.
There aren't a whole lot of choices for commercially loaded ammo. CCI/Speer MRI (manufactured by CCI) and Samson in a couple different bullet weights (all HPs) are about all I've seen, and all seem to perform equally well. I've never seen the IMI or Samson product advertised for less that the Speer Gold Dots.
Cheaper than Dirt has .325 grain Gold Dots for $16.72 per box.
Wholesale Hunter advertises them for $16 per box, but whenever I've tried to order from them they've been back-ordered.
For comparison, Samson and MRI are available directly from
Magnum Research at $24 per box.
