I just came back from the range.
I shot 200 rounds of Winchester 100 round White box FMJ ammo. The Springfield Armory G.I. 1911 performed well. The mags sucked. I have the SA mag that FTF a few times. I picked up one used Colt 8 round mag (with a Shooting Star follower) that fed the best but not perfect and one used G.I military mag that sucked the worst.
The higher the round count, the better the pistol shot. I never shot or owned a .45 or a 1991 before so it my virgin outing.
I do have to say, most of the time, I go shooting, my hand would be sore at one point or another. This 1911 is the most comfortable gun I've ever shot. No soreness at all. It fit me hand perfectly.
I highly recommend the SA G.I. 1911 to anyone that wants a very nice entry level 1911.
The Lakeland gun show is this weekend and I plan on picking up a set of military style grips and about 5 Wilson Combat mags. Everyone raves about the Wilson mags. It's probably going to be the 8 round mags. An extra round it's a bad thing.
