I have a buddy who is considering either this pistol, a Glock 23 or a Springfield XD in .40 S&W. Anyone have any feedback on it?

I've been seeing the ads.  Do you think it's just a reworked Sigma?  Even if it is, maybe it will have a lighter trigger pull.

A review of the pistol was on G@A tv a few weeks ago.  They thought it was a good pistol, and worthy of the name M@P.  It does, however look like an improved sigma.

The site modern firearms at world.guns.ru has a picture and description

I think I'll stick to Glock for now, something I know and trust. The Sigma left a bad taste in my mouth a few years ago that I didn't like very well. If the new pistol looks like a Sigma, it's gonna take a while for me to warm up to it.

Nothing to get worked up about.

The SW99 must really be lonely?  Their new PPK has more appeal right now I think.

If it ain't reliable and accurate it won't be around for long - time will tell - but I'm not in a huge hurry looking for something that exceeds my Glocks in the afore mentioned catagories.

I like the way it *looks*, but how it shoots, etc. will remain to be seen.  I always thought the Sigma was fugly, even if it performed well...  maybe they are onto something with a functioning pistol that is no longer looking like a melted blob of plastic?

I don't have any problem with the way the Sigma looks or feels, in fact it's a more comfortable gun to use than the Glock.  I think that knowing the Sigma is a piece of shit makes it look a lot uglier than it actually is.

That looks more like a USP or an FN P9 than a Sigma.

Did someone say smegma?

One of the worst handguns S&W ever made.

I'm hoping they're not just throwing the M&P name around - that piece was and is a true legend.

I had to laugh a little when I saw the print ad featuring a lever that disengages the sear so you don't have to pull the trigger to break the gun down.

You know what market that line was aimed for!

I'm sure it peaked the interest of a lot of Federal LE purchasing managers (due to the fact it's so hard to hire people professional enough to carry the Glock 40).

I have been told that Smith and Wesson is going to trade us gun for gun on the POS 4043's that we're carrying now (NOT by choice).  Still waiting on the sample gun to get here so we can beat the crap out of it.

I have yet to see a Smith pistol that was built for combat.

And you're right, not pulling the trigger before disassembly would probably save a few of the meatheads that I work with (and FOR).
