I've a NIB Glock 30S pistol I purchased and never discharged.
A friend of mine has a used parkerized Colt 1911 .45 (WW2 arsenalled?) pistol he wants to trade, even or even w/some boot, for me Glock.

Here is the immediate info I've on the Colt 1911: Serial # 609XXX. Parkerized. Marked "United States Property."
Plastic brown grips. Proof marked with flaming cannon ball and "RIA." and "FK". Original? 7 round magazine. No box or papers.

Slide seems to fit tight to frame. No rattle. Little if any dummy mark. Barrel appears clean but I don't know if it is original.

Is this Colt good to go for an even trade on me NIB Glock .45acp? (I don't know too much about 1911s nor have I ever owned one).
If no, what is the current market high bid value of this Colt with consideration of the fact I've got $550 into the Glock 30S.

Any quick advice or educated opinion would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

It all depends on originality.

A legit USGI 1911 is easily a grand in this market.  Probably more. That is for unaltered pistols

You are taking advantage of a friend most likely.

Sound like a World War One era pistol that was arsenal rebuilt at rock island and inspected by frank krack ( hence the FK RIA markings)
A typical rebuilt WWI 1911 ( this is assuming no butchering has occurred like beaver tail safeties  aftermarket sights or non arsenal refinishing ) is easily a $900+ pistol these days or easily worth 2 glocks !

1919 manufacture according to Colt.

Given the date of manufacture, it was built as a 1911.
Was it updated to 1911A1 standard?

What’s the condition overall?

I assume the slide does indeed say Colt, Hartford etc. on it (and you aren’t referring to it as a “Colt” due to serial number - some 1911’s were arsenal rebuilt to become mixmasters, where the slide was a different manufacturer than the frame).

Regardless, if it’s generally in good condition, it could be worth $1000 easily, possibly much more depending.

If the 1911 hasn't been subject to home "gunsmithing" that deal would have been done by now.

If it hasn't been molested you're friend needs to have a couple of bills thrown in for the trade.

Yup. And I am an avid Glock fanboy. Get the 1911, pick up another 30S some other day down the road.

Unless the gun has been butchered by bubba I would get it and be fair in doing so.  Your reputation is something you establish or reestablish every single day.

Depends on if you want a gun to collect/sell or carry/shoot.
