Anyone else excited about this? I just heard about it tonight.

I couldn't find a thread on it, but I'm sure there was one...

"SigSauerGuns.com reports that SIG will be unveiling a new double stacked .45 ACP pistol called the SIG P227 at SHOT Show.

The P227 is going to be a .45 ACP double stack pistol with overall dimensions very close to the P226. The thickness of the grip will be pretty much identical to a P226 with 2 piece grips except it will be an enhanced ergonomic grip.

The P227 will ship with a 10rd flush fit magazine and there will be a 14rd extended length mag as well.

The P227 will accept standard P220 5″, 4.4″, and 3.9″ slides. If you have a P220 Match Stainless Elite or a Super Match, those slides should work too. The pistol will fit in standard P220 and P226 holsters. "

While I don't think this will appeal to me, I think that the market DOES need some mid-size .45's along the lines of the S&W M&P 45.  The Glock 21/FNX-45/XD45 are all far too big to practically fit everyone.

I'm really excited about this gun I have been waiting for it for awhile but I think any AWB will kill this gun.

I cannot wait for this gun, though much like the P221 ( Sigs first attempt at the double stacked .45)  I feel the AWB may kill this before it gets off the ground.. Here's to hoping for the best

With 10rd flush fit any AWB might help it.
During the last ban if You could only have 10rds why not have the largest 10rds You can have,
During that time .45's and smaller pocket pistols became popular more so than duty pistols.

No way.  Good in a ban market.

Everyone just moves to carry .45's

The P220 with 10 rounders are very big with the extension sticking out of the bottom.

A 226 sized gun offering .45ACP with the legally limited # of rounds as the 226 will be very compelling

An AWB (limited to 10 rounds) would boost the sales of a pistol such as the P227. Same for the G30, HK45 etc.

If they offer a SAO version, and a ban does come to pass, I might seriously consider one of these.

That is a rare dantsx disclosure.

I didn't know you laid eyes on other guns.  Don't let your Glocks see you doing it.

You realize that a Sig is not a glock right?

I would love this pistol but with the 10 rounds im not sure its worth it. a 15 round capacity would  be great even if it sticks out the bottom a bit. I'm a bigger guy and concealing that gun like that wouldn't be a problem. bottom line is if the gun goes to market i will probably buy it.

this is awesome. they offer it with the 3.9in and the 4.4in barrels, all three models come with night sights and its the same width as the 220 and the 226.

What I love is the fact that holsters for 220 fit the 227........this was a smart move, I know that the slides are basically the same and the lowers are different but still could have gone anyway......this was greatbmove

I know I'm late to the thread, but...

I can't believe they are only getting 10 rounds (flush fit) in this thing!  They get 8 rounds in a single stack P220.

Heck, I get 10+1 of 45ACP in my Taurus PT-145 and it is TINY by comparison....weighs 10oz less...costs 1/2 the price and I've never had a problem with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Sig fan -- I love me some P226 (have 2)....but unless Sig can offer a 14 or 15 round double stack 45ACP (can you say, "Para P14-45"?) in this size of a pistol, I think I'll pass.

I'd much prefer a comfy 10 shooter to a chunky 13-15 shooter. I have 8 extended 14 round mags for my MP 45. I think my bro-inlaw will be getting a 227.

Maybe they'll release a factory threaded barrel soon.

Since it accepts P220 slides, it should use the same barrels as well, so a 220 threaded barrel should drop right in from the looks of things.
