Hey Guys... Im also considering an XD for carry ... recommendations as to 4" or 5"? I dont want the subcompact (yet) because it will also be my range plinker. Im sold on the XD i just need some input as to which size!

well, if it's for concealed carry i'd recommend the 4". i have both, the 5" is used exclusively for uspsa production matches and the 4" for carry.

Is there a large difference in accuracy between the 4 inch and 5 inch?

Let me preface my statement by pointing out that I am by no means a ballistician, and I have no actual trigger time with a 5" XD.

With that caveat in mind, I would think that accuracy would be more or less comparable for practical "combat" accuracy purposes.  With a shorter barrel, I would tend to be more concerned with loss of muzzle velocity than loss of relative accuracy.

Anywho, I have a 4" XD and like it a lot.

I agree with the other guys. One of my most accurate firearms was a snub nose 686.

I got a 4" and it's about as big as I want to try to conceal, yet has enough barrel for shooting at longer ranges.

edited cause I was figuring out how to post a pic.
