A good friend of mine made a few different pairs of these grips out of Micarta. They are a little slimmer than your factory grips, which I like. The texture is coarse, and very unique.

Let me know what you think. He is willing to make a bunch to sell if he gets good feedback. He can make them in many different colors. I have a few in red/white, red/black, and olive/black. If you are interested I'll take more pics.

I like the OD green, but I'm not sure I want grip that are slimmer than the factory grips.  The grips from the factory already seem a bit slim.

BTW, where did you get your trigger group and hammer?  I need to pop something like that onto my Mil-Spec.

I like 'em. Be certain he copies the cut for the safety plunger tube on the other side as it adds a bit of insurance in case of a loose tube.

Those are nice...looks like good traction even when wet, does he do Sigs?
My SA is a bit older, having a #104XXX Vs. your #117XXX and it hasn't failed at anything yet...uncanny.

The grips are the same thickness as the factory ones are. They just felt a little slimmer to me after replacing my Hogue grips. A cut has been milled for the safety plunger tube. These are professionaly made with the highest quallity micarta. The texture of the grips are unique, a little more agressive than stock grips. Best of all they look Bad Ass!

I believe he will be selling them for around $50 - $55, and that may include new button head hex screws for installation.

I'd definately buy them! Now all I have to do is go buy me a 1911 again (been dragging it out for more than a year now.)

You can get beaten for living in AZ and not having a 1911.

Can? Everytime I go to my favorite gunstore the clerks will jump the counter to pistol-whip me with whatever 1911 is laying around.

Well, I have a Glock 19 (for carry) and a Springfield XD40, but I still need a 1911. So if anyone want to help a friend in need...

Well Lumpy, what do you think of the bad ass black? I have narrowed down the color choices to ones below. We are in the process of making some Browning Hi power grips and may look into a few others ( Sig, Baretta, Ruger MKII ). Any other suggestions? I may be able to put a few of these on the Exchange tomorrow if we get in more supplies. I'll keep you all posted, and thanks for the input.

SWEEEEET on the black ones!!

I have a parkerized milspec, so, save for the stainless safety and hammer and magwell, that's pretty much what my gun would look like with those grips!

I think I'd like the OD... if not the black.  The OD might match some of the OD tac gear I already have, and will probably get in the future.  Keep this thread updated, and get some ordering information!  I might have to get a pair of these to pretty up my 1911.

And Skullworks, Remind me, and when I come to AZ in a month or so, I'll bring my 1911 and pistolwhip you, too!

These grips are made out of Micarta. Micarta was developed by Westinghuse a while back for their non-cunductive integrity. It is now used in hurricane shelters. It is resistant to moisture and heat, which is what us handgunners are looking for! It is extremely stong, light weight, Impact resistant, and needless to say durable.
