Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Can I change the barrel in my ported V12?

I would like to switch my ported barrel with  a regular non-ported barrel on my 1911A1 V12 but still use the same slide even though it has the slots cut out for a ported barrel.  Can this be done? Would there be anything wrong with doing this?

Other than you will destroy the ability of our current government trend to "Ballistically Fingerprint" your pistol, I see no reason why your change won't work.
