Hello,
Today I have made one of my dreams come true...I brought home a Colt Python, serial # 68xxxE, which apparently means it was made in 1977.

I guess I still have lots to learn about Colts, because I don't know what frame this is or which grips I need for it as I want a set of Pachmeyr presentation grips for it.

Can anyone please help me with which frame (I or E) designation Colt puts on this pistol and which Pachmeyr presentation grips I need.  Maybe a like to a great buy on the grips if possible!!

The Python is built on the "I" frame. I would guess you can find a deal on Pachmayr stocks on EBay. They make two different styles...one that leaves the backstrap exposed (Gripper "Professional") and one that covers it (Gripper). I prefer Hogue stocks myself, and they do not cover the backstrap.

ETA The Python is a beautiful handgun...congratulations!
