In the market for a TLR-1 (or 1S) for my full size CZ SP-01. Local shop had a TLR-1 HL in stock for $190.

The claimed 800 lumens is almost tripple that of a TLR-1 at 300.

I dont mind spending the extra on the HL if it's worth it, but not sure if I should get the extra brightness or not.

Use for light would be bump-in-the-night HD use.

Not sure of prices. But I have an older tlr-1. Last night my nephew showed me his HL version. It’s awesome and will be my next one.
I’m in the group that says more light the better.

New HL are 1000 lumens, would get one over the standard version.

The TLR1HL should be closer to $120 new.

$190 is outrageous. I think I bought my last TLR1HL for $109 on Amazon.

The HL is definitely a better light.

Last I looked, the TLR-1 was more than $109 unless you found it on sale, but that was a while ago.

Just looked on Amazon as you suggested, the TLR-1 (300 lumens) is $117, and the TLR-1 HL (800 lumens) is $131.

Not that it matters, but the one at the local shop was the FDE one, not black. Those seem to be more pricey across the web, but not $60 more pricey.

$190 is SureFire territory.  I wouldn’t pay $190 for any Streamlight.

The higher lumens of the HL model is a massive benefit and provides a significant advantage in low light.  300 lumens will get the job done inside any residence, but 800-1000 lumens (depending on HL model year) lights up the world and gives you a much brighter light barrier that a potential threat would have to fight through.  The light spill from the higher lumens also has the added effect of allowing you to see more with less scanning movement of the light.

I’ve seen the standard tlr1 for $50 ish on the EE.    It’s noticablyly not as bright as my 600 or 1000 lumen x300u-a’s.

I've had the original 160, the 300 and now the 1000 lumen version. Definitely go for the HL, preferably the 1000 lumen model if you can find it. It's a serious performer.

190 is definitely overpriced. However, in the words of Aaron Cowan, you can never have too many lumens.

I agree with others on both counts. $190 is insane. That's a crazy price. I also got both of my black ones for under $100 and you can often do that if you wait for sales. Even the FDE at normal price shouldn't be near $190.

As far as the light, I also agree that you should definitely go with the HL model. It's worth the extra.

That all also said, the 800 lumen version of the HL is also the old model. The current model is a 1000 lumen version. I haven't used it, but I can only imagine it would be even better than my 800 lumen one. However, if I was to buy the old model, I'd want a significant discount on it. I definitely wouldn't pay a premium.

What I will say is that this is my favorite weapon light. I've gotten to test quite a few Surefire's, Streamlights, Inforces, and a few others and the TLR-1HL is my go to light. I chose to buy my own after getting to compare them at work. I absolutely love these things.

TLR-1HL pricing is retarded right now on Amazon, I bought one with zero effort for $109 in December, it then went to $130-140 in February as tax season started, and now it's $170+ since everyone is getting their Trump bucks.
