Modern, JHP rounds for all calibers...including the .45acp...have mostly been designed to work pretty well within a wide velocity range, but I do not know if any major manufacturer has actually done tests with these ultra-short barrels in the caliber. I would look hard at the Gold Dot 230gr. in this case as I believe their plating process allows an almost infinite control over the issue of expansion vs penetration. (and I usually prefer WW SXT) JMO
