I took my 22/45 to a local gun smith to have him reassemble my 22/45 (long story) and Friday I took it out to shoot it and a pin had worked its way out of the hole and made the pistol malfunction. After field stripping it and looking at it the hole appears to have been hogged out and has plastic curls like it was reamed bigger and there is slop in the hole on that side of the frame. I did not do anything to open the hole up so could this be factory or did the smith screw my frame up. If it is screwed up is there a fix? I did not keep my receipt like I should have (Dumb). Here are some pics to help explain what I am talking about. The pin just walks out of the hole while shooting.

The hammer pivot is what is walking. It looked like #63 went with the trigger pivot.

Well I got the retaining spring in place but the hole is so large the pin keeps drifting. Looks like I am going to have to send it to Ruger and probably pay as much as a new pistol to get the frame replaced.

I ordered an oversized bushing kit from clark customs and a VQ trigger and sear. I figure instead of just fixing it I will take the oportunity to improve it a little.

Well I found out the bushing kit does not work and since I do not have my service recipt the smith is acting like he never did the job. It is only $35 for a new frame but Ruger wants me to send the whole pistol in so they can look at it which will be $45 for me to send it in through fed ex. I am taking the pistol down to the smith next week and chewing some rear end if he does not come clean.

I agree. I have no idea what I was thinking. When I pulled the parts out to see if some how the new bushing would hold the pin from sliding I noticed the inside of the hole is even beveled. I am just going to try to get Ruger to sell me a new frame  by a one for one swap. I have no idea why they are so sensitive about selling a new frame.

Well $45 for shipping to Ruger, $35 for the new part, $25 for labor and $35 I believe for return shipping = $140 I think I will sell what parts I have for what I can get and get a different pistol. Thanks for your help though it was greatly apriciated. Maybe I will get a CZ cadet.

I might be interested in that lower half. What are you looking to get for it?

I was thinking last night and I am going to ball gauge the hole and see if I can borrow a reamer from work and make an insert out of the bushing I have. I think I can take it to work and make it thin enough.
