Put an adjustable trigger on my Bergara B14 R and got the trigger pull weight down to 8 oz. Yet when I torque the action down with the stock on the weight jumps up to 14 oz! Am I going nuts or is my old electronic pull weight gauge going bad?

Does it feel heavier, or just measures heavier with the gauge? Could be the stock is not allowing the gauge to pull in a linear motion causing your deviation. Or there could be some rubbing between the trigger and trigger pocket in the stock causing the discrepancy.

8 ounces is really light IMO. 14 ounces is light.

Check the width of your old trigger group (calipers) and compare it to the width of your aftermarket model. You may need to remove a little material from the interior of the stock.

I had to remove material for clearance on several stocks, this isn't unusual.
