You didn't hear this from me, I've been declared a Glock fan, .40 S+W rounds and Glock handguns seem to mix badly. There seems to be more than a few stories of .40 Glocks going KB.

I've heard others say "they've heard about .40 Glocks" going KB, but it always seems to be second hand info. My first question would be were the KB .40 rounds reloads or factory? If factory, what brand? I had a KB in a S&W M59 years back, but it was due to the reloads I was shooting, I can't blame S&W ( pre-Glock days btw - ;-) ) Thanks for the heads up though.

I love the Glock 23 but honestly, if you already have a Glock 19 with full capacity mags, I don't see why you'd need to go to the Glock 23. There is little real world difference between quality +P/+P+ 9mm JHP loads and quality .40 S&W JHP loads. If it were me, I'd just keep the Glock 19.
As for the .40 S&W Glocks blowing up, I've never seen it. I know many people who fire tons of rounds through Glock 22/23/27's and not one of them has ever had a problem. I use a factory G23 barrel in my Glock 32 regularly and I'm not worried. |

Glock 22 and 27 here. I carry my 27 24/7 and have put around 5000-7000 rounds through it. Plus I reload. I have never had any problems. Period. They just shoot and shoot, unlike any of my Colt's.

I have a pair of G19's & think these are perfectly suited for the 9mm cartridge however if you really want a .40S&W I would seriously consider a Springfield XD www.springfieldarmory.com/prod-xdpstl-ported.shtml unless you want the 13rd hi-cap mags
then maybe a SIG 229 |

I would stay with the 19 but thats is just my personal prefrence, the Glock 19 is my favorite gun. You will not go wrong with the 23 though. I wouldn't worry about KBs, it seems like most of the time you hear about them the ammo was overcharged or lead. I also doubt the credibility of some of the reports. It is real easy to post false info on a forum if you do not like a particular gun.

Besides the cost involved "replenishing" the magazine count on the new 23, your 19 is a known entity.
What if you get a 23 and for some reason have second thoughts? I could see "in addition to" but not "instead of". At least then, you would have both to compare head to head, monetary considerations notwithstanding, of course. Sometimes when you buy a replacement, the original gets kept.

After using the G19 for quite awhile, I had the same thought process, and ended up getting a G23 also. What I found was that the .40 G23 had a stiffer recoil impulse than my .45, and significant muzzle flip. It was difficult to get as quick and accurate second shot as I was used to with my G19. As has also been mentioned, the ammo cost is significantly greater than 9mm. Sold off the G23 and have never regretted it.
Am quite comfortable with the 115gn +P HP as a carry round in my G19. Pintop |

As someone who recently traded a night-sight equipped 3rd gen Glock 23 for a second-gen standard Glock 19, my advice to you is to stay with the 19.
It's the best gun they make, and if you can get one without those stupid finger grooves, more power to you. My G23 didn't fit my hand at all, plus it was a hand-stinging bastard with any kind of hot load. And while I didn't like it, my wife outright despised it. Then there was the phantom of a potential KB! lurking in the shadows, more so since I reload and do not buy factory ammo any more. I was glad to see it go. Plus I already had a G17 with some hi-caps. |

I went from a 23 back to a 19. Just don't shoot the small .40 as well as I shoot the 9mm. In fact I'm down to only one .40 Glock a model 27. My other Glocks are 17,19,34 and a dedicated 17 lower for my Advantage Arms .22 slide.
I'm one of those guys that only believes in owning and practicing with one type of handgun. Years ago it was all 1911s now it's all Glocks. |

I say get a Glock 17 to go with the G-17 mags.
 oh and keep the 19 for CCW. |
