i am told that a very few steyr maadi underfolder akm's were imported. the egyptians were a client of the soviets, yet it is entirely possible they "shopped around" on the com bloc market.

the east german, lever actuated stock has showed up on a variety of models, over the years...as has the romanian model. it would be cool to know if these were contract (export builds) rifles, 'custom shop' rifles done by the country/military that used them or just a cobbled together parts gun.
