I personaly have a problem with paying $40 a mag. Unless you just have to have a .308 I would go with the 7.62X39 carbine. I have thought about the .308 several times though. Also I have read that the scope monts tend to get loose on the .308.

they're going to redo the 308 mag well pretty soon and then they'll be able to retrofit older guns to use the newer setup.  I think i read that in the robarm forums or talkin to them on the phone.  i'm going to wait until that happens before i buy one.

I heard one time from this guy that his brother's uncle's father-in-law had a .308 Saiga, which is kind of like the .308 VEPR, and he liked it. But you do know the VEPR .308 may have magazine issues, right?

This was taken from the Robinson web page. I'm not sure butI think they actualy own one.
Should have linked it to my post  above my most humble apology.

"It is not recommended that the scope mount be used on the VEPR .308 Standard and VEPR II models.  They don't seem to hold zero.  However, the VEPR .308 Super which comes with a scope mount works extremely well.

The VEPR Super includes a scope mount which fits directly over top of the receiver.  It attaches to the receiver in three places giving it a solid fit."

Gee, never thought about looking on the website of the company that imports/makes the gun that I am about to buy to see what issues it may have.........Next time I should.
