I am looking for info on chinese in .223.
Any functional issues?Availability and price for magizines.
Anything else to be aware of,typical accuracy with good ammo.
How do they compare to bulgys in .223,which I never see either new or used.
Thank You for any info you can share.

all the chinese .223 guns use uniqe mags, you can mess arround with making other mags work but reliability has been an issue.  Norinco .223 mags run 30+ each.  my norinco bwk-92 runs great.

Mags can be a bitch to find....I just found 2 in the EE...run an add in the EE and someone might have a couple they will sell you. Always keep your eyes open for them. Chinese .223 AK are great guns just like the others. Ive owned a few and own a nice 84S right now.

You can also find the .223 mags at gunshows, sometimes the dealer may not know what he has (rarely).  I have a bwk-92 also and it works flawlessly with the Chinese mags.  I have been able to get some Bulgarian mags to work in it without modification, but it is hit and miss.

Mags can be a pain to find.  Have deep pocket books when you do.

Chinese steel mags function 100% in my mak90

Bulgarian waffles need some sanding down on the top sides of the mags to fit easier.

I just got these bugly waffles:

Kvar currently has black buglys for $20

I owned a under folder Norinco 223 I bought back in the 80s. It was a very good gun. I ended up selling it around 94. A guy at the range just had to have it, made me an offer 3 times what I paid for it so it went. Wished I would have kept it now.

So what do you look for to tell the difference in a .223 mag and a 7.62 mag?

I only have .223 Norinco mags, so I don't have any "regular" mags to compare them to.

Keep an eye on Gunbroker. I recently got a package of 3 new ones for $75.00.

7.62 mags are more curved, then 5.45 then .223.....

I have had a .223 for about 10 years now and have loved it ever since I got it.  Up till recently I have only had one mag but just recently fell into a couple more.  I put about 1000 rounds through it a few months ago with out any issues.

There were never any .223 rifles imported from China. As all of them were chambered for the 5.56x45mm cartridge and stamped that on the receiver. Having owned a NHM-90 and now a MAK-90 chambered for 5.56x45mm I can say they both functioned 100%. Never had a single problem with any brand of 223 Remington ammo or reloads with sp,hp,or fmj bullets,or any type of surplus 5.56x45mm ammo.
The only draw back is the high price and the lack of availability of factory 30rd mags.

Click on the link to the "How to id AK drums and mags" page of my web pages for info and pics of 5.56x45mm mags. Also check the "Chinese Rifles" page for info/pics on the different models of 5.56x45mm rifles imported.
