$750.00 is on the high side due to the fact the rifle was not completely converted from a postban rifle configuration. If it is the one off the EE, I saw it and the pictures showed the parts had not been changed out clearly. No bitching on that point.
The AdThe thumbhole SA85M's are currently going for around $650.00 with no 922(r) US compliance parts installed. With the thumbhole stock installed no compliance parts are necessary but once the pistol grip configuration is done they are. It is the seller's responsibilty to make sure the rifle is legally configured. Is there any reason to believe it is not?
Did this rifle have the 6 required compliance parts installed by the seller? If not, I would complain as it needed the parts installed to legally be in pistol grip configuration. If the parts are not there, I would contact the seller and ask for a reasonable price adjustment to cover a part of the compliance parts cost if they are missing. If it does have compliance parts then the value is not that bad. An adjustment of $50.00 would provide the compliance parts if needed.
Or was it delivered with a thumbhole stock installed for legality purposes? The nuetered barrel parts are easily changed out with Romanian gas block and FSB which are available from Apex Gun Parts on a barrel stub for around $35.00
here. Here is one that I converted myself. Notice that this one has the short gas system and a bayonet can not be mounted. Due to that I used a SAR-1 nuetered gas block that allows for the cleaning rod retainer. I used a TAPCO G2 single hook FCG, US slant brake and US mag followers and baseplates for the compliance parts.
How it looked originally.
