This is probably a worthless question: who has 5.45 in stock? Have a new SLR-105 A1R coming and I would love to be able to shoot it. Reading all these post about ammo shortages makes me wonder if I did the right thing buy this gun.....sure it will get better sometime. Know this is an old topic, thanks to anyone who can help.

no one right now, give it a few months.

sucks but that's the downside of having an interest in a rare caliber.

In the meantime, milsurp 8mm and 54r remain nice deals for when only loud will do.

I seem to be taking my K98 and 91/30 to the range much more now because of this situation  probably better in the long run, less spent on ammo, with the same amount of time spent on practice.

Mco119,

I've been asking the same question.  I think you were the other guy that was interested in that SLR-105 on the EE.  While I wait the few months for ammo to show up, I just figure the purchase was an investment.  I can always sell it back later ("SLR-105A1R, new in box, completely unfired!!!")..  Heh.

Yeah thanks to Templar I found a 105 A1 R, pretty good price too. You got one too aye? Cool. Anyway, up until now I've mainly been shooting .308s: FALs and G3s mainly. I think I've really taken .308 surplus availability for granted; I just never figured 5.45 would be THIS hard to find. Expected there to be shortages, but never of this magnitude.  I really am becoming concerned that buying a 105 as a shooter was a bad idea........we'll see. And yes, I think it is a great investment, assuming the ammo starts coming in regularly again. My guess is that Darkside veterans have seen shortages like this in the past, but it sure concerns me as an AK noob.

Shortages suck, because the 5.45 is fun to shoot. I have three AK's in 7.62 and one in 5.45. i catch myself at the range shooting it more than the others. Less kick, more accurate and lighter. Also, my wife likes it too, but not as much as my AR/M4.

I am not holding my breath I am just thinking ahead. I have 3,000 in my closet right now for my 5.45X39 and 3,000 for my AK47 too. I am glad I picked up a few when it was cheaper too.
