I've got over 1k rounds thru it with no problems. I'll call it converted well enough.
Nice rig!! Now all you have to do is get rid of that damned birdcage flash hider and put a real hider/brake on it.
Very nice. Eotechs are very useful. Have you seen the thread with pics of the Polish Beryl AK? They have vertical forward grips and some are equipped with Eotechs
no I was talking about you being a convert from the AR to the AK, not the rifle, I'm sure it runs flawlessly. are you able to rest your cheek on the stock and still see the recticule? I had a problem with that and decided I either needed a cheek rest or just stick to iron sights. |

Thats a sweet rifle. I have considered that same set up on my Global Trades rifle so I am glad you posted it. Thanks. |
just dont be an idiot and put an AR15 flash hider on your AK |

My personal rule of thumb:
"The way it comes from the Arsenal is the way it was meant to be." |
Meant to be? Sure. The way I want it? No.
It's like buying a suit and choosing not to have it tailored to fit you, just...to be difficult. Have fun dragging your pants and popping your buttons ;-) |
putting synthetic warsaw pact furniture on it is tailoring, putting a Kobra or PSO on it is tailoring. putting AR stuff on it is like putting lace frills on the collar and cuffs with a gigantic rainbow on the back. |

Hey Horseman, you could just sell off the one you have now and invest in a Polytech UF. I have one that I'm hoping to hang onto that is the evil "Double Underfolder." If I can work enough hours before my loans come due, I may get to keep it; if not, it will have to go up for sale in the next little while. I tried to sell it at a show recently; got one really good case of "WASRitis" who just walked away when I told him how much I wanted. The Saiga looks pretty cool, I'll admit, but I am a purist and snob when it comes to most of my guns.
honestly with the SHOT show coming up I couldnt afford to buy it, I'd love to though
LOL Yes. I am not a fan of the AR stocks or flash hiders. But I don't see a problem with putting a rail or two with a sight of some sort. |
I guess you missed the personal part, Tapco boy. |
That is the funniest thing I have heard all day! Agreed though. |
definite +1 there |

H8, build your rifle to your specs. Bottom line is your gonna be carrying it when the shit hits the fan. Hell, Most people on here think VEPRs are ugly, But it will outshoot any other AK out there.
just be warned: during SHTF times any AR on AK stuff is just asking for friendly fire casualties

my new quote. |
Let's see, it's somehow wrong to put an Eotech on an AK because it's AR stuff. I guess the Polish army has it all wrong because not only are they using Eotechs on their Beryl AKs, but they have vertical forward grips and (shudder) use 5.56 ammo. Whatever, us older guys have problems with iron sights, the eyes start to go, so you got to give us a break. But the truth be told, I'm getting a Kobra for my Bulgy. I've heard they are pretty decent.

Ken, nice setup, never seen that sight. Is that an Eothingy of some sort?
For those bashing the birdcage FH, anyone else see the performace vid posted here a few months ago? I think I'll stick with the birdcage until my group buy FH comes in. Please guys, post some more pics! Edit, link to vid added HERE. |
I get jokes. The Ace is adjustabe up and down, I set it to where it suited me, with the Eothingy I went all the way up. Before I had optics it was almost completely down. |
Said the man who obviously never shot an Arsenal in 5.56x45 ... |
if you group muzzle devices under the optics category, you need to get your head checked |
I will put my .308 vepr against it any day |
All you AK grandpas need your depends changed. VFG's and red dots are the shit. I have them on everyone of my rifles.
No thank you, sonny....this grandpa thinks those things are for AR15s and such |
I dont know about tricked out, but I like the looks of the sights on some of the KREBS customs. You know long sight radius, with appeture rear sight. Is it possible to get this sight setup, on say my SA85
I've handled that scope and it weights a ton... But the field of view is incredible! |
It's all in fun but if we were to ever get to the same range it would be fun to find out for sure ... |
You guys are starting to sound like the AR crowd, you can't put this, you can't put that. I say if you payed the bill, use what you want (except chevrofreak). |
Isnt the AR crowd about "Put this, and that, and that, and this, and that, and that?" |
I guess you're right, SVT. But still, some people want an AK for reasons other than collecting. For those people, like myself, I chose the AK because I believe it is the best platform. The only reason I would choose a Kobra over an Eotech would be cost, not because the Kobra is "correct". |
The point of the VFG is control on full auto for the M4. Cause there is too much crap on the fore end to get a decent grip. |
Ah, this is much ado about nothing. If you want old school -- then go old school. If you want to maximize/personalize your AK platform, that's fine too. It's your weapon and your money. Works for me. Next subject.
