Yes it's off topic but I'm allowed
.
What are you guys reading right now?
I just started
In the Company of Heroes by Michael Durant, the pilot who's Blackhawk (Super Six Four) was shot down over Mogidishu.
It's told from the first person, and is a great companion to Mark Bowden's
Blawk Hawk Down.
I haven't gotten very far into it but it's been great so far. Can't imagine what he went through.
If you've seen the movie
Blawk Hawk Down, the scene of the mob taking Shugart and Gordon down and capturing Durant is very well done, based on Durant's account.
In the movie, Durant is clubbed with a rifle butt, but in the book he says that it was actually the severed arm of one of his crew. He never told anyone that for fear of causing undue harm to the friends and family of his crew mates, but that he couldn't keep quiet any more.
How the fuck can people do that to one another (clubbing with a severed arm)?
Anyway, I highly, highly recommend it.
