this is the 'rough prototype' works fine in Tony's rifles and he's tried it in a few and ramping up production soon.

I didn't realize who he was till I looked at some of the valmet offers I got and realized they all come with tromix mags.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Gee, and just a little over a year ago, you would have cried to destroy an M14 mag, not to mention, it wouldnt have been legal to do.

How lucky we are.

Great minds must think alike.
I started tinkering with this a while back just for my own use and passing on to the community.

I was wondering how the ones above feed?  I had to bend down the follower to get the angle right for it to feed.  It feed good on the bench and that was with the mag jammed in place and not being held by the receiver. I was going to use a peice of 1/8 inch steel and a trunion rivet as the catch on the front. On the back I was going to or I am going to spotweld a peice on the rear as well.

Very interesting.....

Oh... I have been a member here for a long time. I was Orfshooter.

I'm also one of the owners of www.gunco.net and have hung out with krinkfreak as well as Templar being one of my mods on Gunco too.

Someone sent me this link because they knew I was tinkering with the M14 mags and I just had to chime in.

Thanks KF and Hello hkinfl.... Yes strange... I have a packager going out for you today :D

Some more pics.

Oh, I know it needs a P-grip conversion, but I haven't owned it that long. I do have a PSOP scope for it though

What's the going rate for a Saiga 308? My local dealer has one for $1,400 but I thought that was WAY too much!

Am I wrong?

Thanks,
Accountant

There was a guy in NY selling a 'sniper AK' for about 600$ when I was there - SKS with polytech stock and the 4x scope....   I would've called him on it, but he was my source for cases of wolf at a measly 100$.    I HATE NY!!!!!!

Does it require the rifle to be modified?  I'm VERY interested.

no mods, just check in saiga12 once in a while...  they're got a couple of guys WECSOGing mags now.  But Tromix is gonna make them in teh 5 figure range I believe.  Rifle does not have to be modified.

I did the same thing last year but I never fixed/modified the follower so the bolt wouldnt slam into it after the last round. I didnt have to trim the mag body only add lugs to lock into the magwell. I did have to trim the front tunnion underneath slighly but it didnt change the fit and operation of the stock mag.

Last time I had time to mess with it I was trying to use a FAL follower since it didnt have that big square back end. Once the follower issue is resolved its as good as gold.

ETA: it did function for awhile with no hiccups until the follower was slighty tweaked from the bolt carrier slamming into it. Then it would not move up and down inside the mag body smoothly. I think the FAL follower will correct this problem and allow the bolt to slide right over top of it.
