I recently got one, used. It has no instructions. The safety lever covers one pin that I believe the mount uses and I am wondering if I need to break out the dremel. If so I think I'll ditch the mount and try to find something different. Any pics of this mount installed would sure help.

this is what i read from a site selling the mount.........

Attaches using steel trigger bolt & hammer bolt supplied with the mount. Remove existing two bolts and replace with two supplied with mount. NO need to remove for cleaning. Standard dovetail base. Will not work with compact scopes unless higher rings are used.

+1 or some type of shotgun.

The rifle in the pic is a SAR. It should have a optics mount on the left side of the receiver.

www.thecountryshed.com/ak47_scope_mounts.htm

down this page is the pic of it mounted.  looks like it fits over the safety selector somehow.  but yeah, it looks like the correct mount for the ak by b square.

That's weird because it looks like the holes will line up perfectly with the pivot pins. And the large cut out for the bolt carrier handle to reciprocate looks correct also. I bet if you had special pivot pins made with screws on one end to hold the thing in place it would fit and work. BUT.......I can't imagine being able to tighten it enough to give you a good solid repeatable zero. I can imagine either crushing the receiver or binding the hammer before it would get totally wobble free.

YMMV

Sir,

Take that off of your rifle.

For the children.

First time I have seen that before, looked just like a shotgun mount.

The mount still will not work. The rifle pictured above is a SAR which has a optics rail mounted on the left side. The mount pictured uses the axis pins as it mounting points. The rail on the left side of the SAR will be in the way.

Just send that mount back (or return it) and purchase a mount which will make use of the optics rail on your rifle.

He edited the original post a day after it was up.

Yeah, right. I agree. It actually isn't going on my SAR. I am putting it on a plinker with no scope mount on the side. A fellow on the Saiga12 board gave it to me because he couldn't figure it out, I think it was given to him. Go figure.

You aren't suggesting I use one of those dustcovers with a rail on it are you? While hideous this is a well made mount that should stay in zero well.

Go with the majority opinion on this one, Shitcan that mount and just buy a side rail from K-Var and pop it on with a set of bolt cutters, that mount that you have is awful..
